Job Position: Junior Operations Assistant (Truck Fleet Control)

Location: PE/Gqeberha
Salary: R15 000 to R25 000 per month commensurate with experience + annual bonus

Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30 AM to 5 PM and on standby in evenings
on duty every second weekend and required to be in office on Saturday 7.30 AM to 11 AM and reachable on company cell at all times

Qualifications / Requirements:
• Proven Scheduling and Fleet control experience, in managing trucks long-distance (not courier vehicles)
• Managing and monitor Drivers and checking camera’s and handling any issues that arise
•Proven operations / scheduling fleet controlling experience
•Managing refrigerated trucks
• Oversee the loading and offloading of trucks and ensure compliance and accuracy
• Deal with clients – keep them updated and well advised and handle any issues (able to think fast and find good solutions)
• Minimum Matric
• Must be computer literate on Excel
• Good calibre, excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Must have savvy and common sense, with ability to cope well under pressure
• Strong work ethics essential
• Stable work record with good, contactable references
• Committed individual who will be prepared to be available 24/7, if necessary
Experience with:
• Axle weight distribution – Calculating weight placement over front and rear axles to avoid legal overload fines
• Equipment pairing – Matching the correct truck tractor with the right trailer type (e.g., flatbed, refrigerated reefer, super-link, or tautliner) based on cargo
• Volumetric balancing – Maximising trailer space (cube-out) before hitting maximum weight capacity (weigh-out)
• Managing empty miles – Planning “backhauls” (return loads) to ensure trucks do not drive back empty
• Permit procurement – Securing special abnormal load permits for trucks carrying oversized cargo
• Bill of Lading (BOL) tracking – Verifying the legal contract between the shipper and the carrier for every single trip
• Roadside assistance coordination – Dispatching mobile mechanics or heavy-duty tow trucks to remote highway locations
• Cargo salvage – Arranging immediate cross-docking or transloading of goods if a truck is involved in an accident
